Hodgson, Winifred (b. BEF 1670, d. BEF 1717)

Note: Winifred Hodgson, dau. of William, bef. 1696 m. Bartholomew Vawter Deed Book 9 p. 54. Since William was in Virginia by 1655 and deceased bef 2 Apr 1670, we can presume that Winifred was born in VA. William's wife is named Orah or Onah, maiden name unknown, she is found in a deed dated 1665. Winifred had at least one brother John Hodgson as named in the 1696 deed. (GJ)
Her husband's will does not mention her, so it is assumed that she died before Sept, 1717

Note: Constance came over on the Mayflower in 1620 with her parents.

Note: The fate of Elizabeth is not really known. She was not on the Mayflower, but she was old enough to have stayed on her own in England. But the fact that another child was also given the name Elizabeth indicates that she did die in England.

Note: Stephen Hopkins came over on the Mayflower in 1620. With him, wife, 4 children and 2 servants. (Oceanus was born on the Mayflower)
Stephen made an earlier trip to Jamestown, and while he was there his first wife died.

Stephen Hopkins. (Plymouth)
His will, was exhibited at Court, Aug. 1644, and dated June 6, preceding. He desires to be buried near his deceased wife. He names his son CALEB, as "heir apparent," and executor of the will, and, together with CAPT STANDISH, supervisor, also another son, Gyles (and his son Stephen), CONSTANCE (wife of Nicolas Snow); Deborah; Damaris; Ruth, and Elizabeth. Witnessed by Myles Standish and William Bradford. (Though attached to the instrument in the Record-book, the names of the witnesses appear to be autograph signatures.] An inventory of his estate was taken, July, 1644, by Capt Standish, Tho. Willet and John Done. Amount 25.14.5.
